June 6, 2022 – National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) – Houston Dash News Release

The Houston Dash will travel to Los Angeles to take on expansion side Angel City FC in the first meeting between the two clubs on Tuesday night. Kickoff is slated for 9:00 p.m. CDT and the game will be available on Paramount+ domestically and on Twitch internationally.

Tuesday’s meeting between the two clubs will mark the second time this year the Dash will have faced off against a new expansion team after hosting fellow newcomers San Diego Wave FC on May 1.

The Dash are coming off a 5-0 win at home over the Orlando Pride on Friday at PNC Stadium. Forward Nichelle Prince scored a career-high three goals in the win to record the first hat trick in club history. Prince has previously recorded a hat trick at the international level for Canada in 2016 against Guatemala at PNC Stadium during World Cup Qualifying.

Forward Michelle Alozie recorded her first professional goal late in the match after coming on as a substitute. Forwards Maria Sanchez and Rachel Daly connected for a goal in the first half. Goalkeeper Jane Campbell made three saves in her third clean sheet of the season. The Dash are 3-1-2 heading into the match and extended their unbeaten streak to five after the win over Orlando.

Angel City FC returns home to Banc of California Stadium after suffering a 3-0 loss to the Portland Thorns on Friday when Portland forward Christine Sinclair scored a brace. Angel City is 3-3-0 in league play and sit in seventh place on the table.

Here are three key points ahead of Saturday’s match:

CAMPBELL’S GOT YOU COVERED: The Dash lead the NWSL in fewest goals allowed through six games, having given up just three. Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell has 15 saves and three clean sheets this season and has a league-best 0.50 goals against average this season. The sixth year shot stopper also has an 83.3 percent save average, which is third- best in the league.

OFFENSIVE BURST: The Dash are tied with Chicago for the second in the NWSL in scoring at 11 goals. The five-goal win against Orlando not only helped the Dash climb the table to second place, it also improved Houston’s goal differential to a league-leading plus-eight.

ANGEL CITY: The first-year club struggled in Challenge Cup play with a 1-4-1 record in the preseason tournament with a minus-7 goal differential in the tournament. However, ACFC’s luck turned around after the expansion club got off to a 3-0-1 start through four games. Former Dash forward Jasmyne Spencer joined Angel City FC after being selected in the 2022 NWSL expansion draft. Cari Roccaro, who also played for the Dash in 2016, signed with Angel CIty in January and has appeared in every match this season so far.
