Chelsea need to tie down Antonio Rudiger’s contract at all costs – Talk Chelsea

Antonio Rudiger has the potential to hit the same legendary heights at Chelsea now as some of those players before him such as your John Terry’s and Frank Lampard’s.

This might be a bold shout, especially when you consider the drama that Rudiger has allegedly been involved in over recent months at the club. But if he helps lead Chelsea to a Premier League title this season after winning the Champions League last season, then he has every chance of becoming a legend.

However, for him to do so, he needs to extend his deal at the club, otherwise he may well agree a pre-contract with a new club in January.

If other clubs are reportedly prepared to pay up to £200k-a-week to land Rudiger on a free transfer this summer, then so must we. Because he has become an absolutely indispensable member of this team now and is one of the most important players on that pitch.

It’s been a remarkable turnaround for the German international, who has improved every single aspect of his game over the last couple of seasons and is now arguably one of the most complete and best defenders in Europe.

Massive clubs want him, with the likes of Bayern Munich and PSG sniffing around. If these are the calibre of clubs seeking to sign him next summer, then Chelsea must absolutely pay what it takes to tie him down with the club for another 5-years and watch him (hopefully) become another club legend.

The rumours circulated that Rudiger was behind a number of dramas when Frank Lampard was in charge and the pair didn’t see eye-to-eye. But you have to argue that if this is true, then this passion and craziness he brings is actually a massive part of what makes him great. He is a monster on the pitch and THESE are the type of mentalities that this team needs, and that Thomas Tuchel loves.

Rudiger might be the guy to be in more regular disputes, but that is just the way he is, he is a passionate and emotional guy and that shows on the pitch.

Chelsea, get the deal done, because this could be the biggest signing we make all year.
