Chelsea labelled ‘boring’ by infuriated pundit

Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Chelsea as they are “boring” to watch under their German boss Thomas Tuchel.

The Blues were convincingly beaten by Brentford over the weekend. Antonio Rudiger scored from range as they went 1-0 ahead but they ended up losing 4-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Kante set for last Champions League hurrah for Chelsea

Chelsea look to recover from that defeat on Wednesday night. They face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The return leg takes place next week at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.

The London club are currently in the process of being sold. They have also had trouble on the pitch as Romelu Lukaku has struggled since returning to the club last summer.

Speaking to the ex-Aston Villa star, TalkSPORT presenter Laura Woods asked: “Do you like watching Chelsea play at the moment?”

Agbonlahor responded: “No, I find it boring. When I watch Manchester City and watch Liverpool – entertaining games, you always want to watch them on TV.

“When it’s Chelsea… sometimes Lukaku’s making runs and they’re just playing keep ball. Passing to midfield, pass it to the three centre-halves, pass it to the keeper, keep passing it. It’s like they’re playing ten passes a goal, we did that in the youth team.”

Elsewhere, Glenn Hoddle believes Lukaku only has himself to blame for his poor form:

“The missing piece is nothing to do with Tuchel, it’s nothing to do with how Chelsea play. He’s got to look himself in the mirror.

“He’s got to look himself in the mirror and say I’ve got to get the best out of myself. He is no way near the player he was since he had that interview. Since he had that injury.

“I don’t know if he is fit enough. He doesn’t look really lean and fit to me. Maybe he’s worked on the wrong things. He may have worked hard but he may have worked on the wrong things.

“He might have done too much gym work for instance, but I don’t know. I am not privy to that. He comes on [to the pitch] and he doesn’t look like a player that is going affect the game to me.”
