Chelsea could hand rare start to squad player with Mason Mount injured – Talk Chelsea

Chelsea are back in Premier League action this Saturday as they make the short trip across London to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.

Patrick Veiera’s team will be no slouches despite going through some poor form in the league at the moment, they have not won a game in the last 5 matches in the league.

Chelsea though, will be without key player Mason Mount who is out for around 2-3 weeks with an ankle issue he picked up during the Club World Cup final.

Thomas Tuchel will be looking at ways to replace Mount, and it could create an opportunity for a player to start the game who has often just had to make do with a place on the bench in recent matches, Christian Pulisic.

Assuming Chelsea go with a back three and Callum Hudson-Odoi is asked to play as a wing-back again, I think it will be a great chance to start Pulisic on the left up top, alongside Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz.

I believe that in the absence of Mount, this would be an excellent front three to create and link-up well together. Hakim Ziyech of course will be expecting to start, but I think Havertz has done enough to keep a starting place at the moment, and I’d like to see Pulisic from the off. All three could start of course IF Tuchel decides to use a 4-2-2-2 formation, then Pulisic and Ziyech can be the pairing behind the front two of Lukaku and Havertz.

Plenty of options of course, but I’d like to see Pulisic from the off, and it’s a great chance to do so.
