Chelsea and Manchester City Face Potential Semi-Final Clash in 2021-22 UEFA Champions League – Sport Grill

Chelsea and Manchester City have been drawn against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the headline ties of the Quarter-Finals draw in 2021-22 UEFA Champions League.

Reigning champions, Chelsea will host La Liga leaders, Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge in a huge Quarter-Final showdown, in which Thomas Tuchel’s Blues will seek to maintain their unbeaten record against the Spanish giants across all competitions.

Manchester City meanwhile will face Atletico Madrid for a place in the semi-finals, with Atletico having already knocked out City’s neighbours – Manchester United in the Round of 16.

The winners of those two ties will then face each other in the semi-finals meaning that there is the prospect of an all English clash between Man City and Chelsea or a Madrid derby between Real and Atletico.

Should Chelsea meet Man City in the semi-finals, it would see both of last season’s finalists play each other for the right to advance to the Final for a second consecutive season.

Liverpool meanwhile have drawn Benfica in their Quarter-Final, with the first leg played away from home at Estadio da Luz, before crucially hosting the second leg at Anfield as they look to continue their push for a unprecedent quadruple.

Villarreal’s reward for knocking out Juventus in the Round of 16 is another difficult test as they take on Bayern Munich, with the winners facing either Benfica or Liverpool for a place in the Final but with the advantage of having the second leg at home.

Quarter-Final ties will be played across two legs during midweeks of 5-6 and 12-13 April 2022, with the Semi-Finals also held across two legs in the midweeks of 26-27 April and 3-4 May.

The Final will be held on Saturday 28 May in Paris, following a switch of venue last month due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
