Changchun Yatai sign Serbian striker Stefan Drazic

Changchun Yatai have reportedly dipped their toe in the summer transfer market, signing Serbian striker Stefan Drazic.

Drazic is listed on Changchun Yatai’s squad list on TransferMarkt, having joined the club for a reported fee of just €300,000, and participated in training prior to the team’s 2-1 home victory over Guizhou Hengfeng.

The 6-foot-2 Serbian striker has reportedly joined the North-East China club after scoring 14 goals in 42 league appearances with Mezőkövesdi SE of the Hungarian OTP Bank Liga – the top tier in the country.

Drazic becomes Svetozar Šapurić’s first signing since his surprise return to the club last month.

Since Šapurić returned to the club for a third time, having previously managed between 2011 and 2012 as well as 2013 and 2014, the club has shown good form, picking up two wins and three draws.

With Changchun Yatai showing strong form, but dropping points in winnable games, it is necessary that the team adds new players that can contribute to their promotion push in the second half of the season.

With a lack of goals often being the problem for Changchun the addition of Drazic makes sense.

Richairo Zivkovic has been in excellent form for the club, scoring ten goals in 12 league games, and giving him another strike partner could help the team in the coming weeks.

Drazic was unable to make his debut in Changchun’s home match this weekend as he is still awaiting his work permit, which could potentially see him make his first appearance in next week’s away trip to Nantong Zhiyun.

It has also been reported on Weibo that Spanish midfielder Jose Manuel Jurado has left the club, with Brazilian forward Maurides also expected to leave after failing to impress since arriving in China.

This leaves Changchun Yatai with one import registration spot available, with the club likely to bring in another player before the end of the transfer window.
