Changchun Yatai reportedly close to Júnior Negrão deal – Wild East Football

Reports continue to emerge that suggest Changchun Yatai are on the verge of completing a deal for Ulsan Hyundai striker Júnior Negrão.

Negrão has been at the forefront of transfer rumours around last season’s China League One champions, with Chen Yang’s side needing to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the Chinese Super League.

According to reports, talks began to heat up and a deal for the Brazilian striker could be finalised at some point next week, despite the player’s initial desire to feature in the Club World Cup this year.

Ulsan Hyundai lifted the 2020 AFC Champions League title, with Negrão named joint top goalscorer with seven, meaning that the South Korean club will take part in the Club World Cup in February.

Reports suggested that Negrão initially requested to be loaned back to Ulsan in order to feature in the tournament, but this appears to have been rejected by both clubs.

This hasn’t stopped the 34-year-old from continuing negotiations with the Chinese club, who will be hoping he can continue to contribute on a par with the 26 goals he netted in 27 K-League appearances (including championship playoffs).

With reports suggesting that Tan Long, last season’s top goalscorer in China League One, is currently in talks with a move to Shanghai SIPG, it is clear that Changchun Yatai are keen to bring in some additional firepower to partner with the likes of Serginho in 2021.

While he is in the latter stages of his career, Negrão’s sensational 2020 season will have fans of the north-eastern club excited at what he can bring to them as they look to cement their place in the top tier after a two-year spell away.
