CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Wydad trounced Hearts 6–1


The CAF Champions League campaign for Hearts of Oak’s came to an end when they were whipped 6-1 by Wydad Athletic Club in Cassablanca on sunday .

Wydad successfully overturned their 1-0 defeat in their first leg encounter with Hearts (Phobia) in
Accra to win 6-2 on aggregate.

The result indicates that Hearts of Oak will be relegated to the CAF Confederation Cup, while Wydad will
advance to the group stage, also known as the “money zone.”

Simon Msuva and Aymane El Hassouni scored a goal each in the first 10 minutes of the game in favour of Wydad. Wydad continue to mount pressure on the Phobians and in the 20th minute a third goal was added by Achraf Dari of Wydad before a penalty was converted by Yahya Jabrane to make it 4-0 prior to halftime.

In the second half, Wydad increased their tally to 5 courtesy defender Ayoub El Amloud before
Msuva of Wydad added the sixth goal in the 61st minute.

However, Patrick Razak managed to score a consolation goal for the Phobians when the
game was getting to a close.

The result for Hearts of oak makes it their worst ever defeat in Africa.
