BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — Oscar Romero scored two first-half goals as Boca Juniors secured a 2-1 home win over Platense in Argentina’s Primera Division on Saturday.

Romero opened the scoring by curling a 12th-minute free-kick into the top right corner.

The Paraguay international midfielder made it 2-0 with a header after Sebastian Villa’s cross on the stroke of halftime.

The visitors reduced the deficit through Nicolas Morgantini, who tapped in from close range in the 55th minute.

But their momentum was curtailed when Ramiro Gonzalez was dismissed for a second yellow card seven minutes from time.

Boca held on to secure their sixth win of the campaign and move to ninth in the 28-team standings, behind Platense on goal difference.

In other Primera Division fixtures on Saturday, Arsenal Sarandi beat Atletico Tucuman 3-1, Racing drew 0-0 at Barracas, Union defeated Velez 2-1 and Talleres overcame Argentinos Juniors 2-0.
