RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) — A second-half strike from Nicolas Orsini fired Boca Juniors to a 1-0 home win over reigning champions Colon in their Argentine Primera Division clash on Sunday.

Orsini broke the deadlock at La Bombonera in the 66th-minute when he ran onto Cristian Pavon’s pass on the counterattack and lashed a first-time effort into the far corner.

Boca are now unbeaten in seven games and have risen to sixth in the 26-team standings, eight points behind leaders Talleres Cordoba. Colon are ninth, having collected just three points in their past five outings.

Meanwhile, Godoy Cruz dented Independiente’s title hopes with a 4-1 victory at the former’s Libertadores stadium. Tomas Ortega, Tomas Badaloni, Ezequiel Bullaude and Martin Ojeda were on target for the visitors while Rodrigo Marquez scored for the Independiente.

The result leaves Independiente fifth in the standings, seven points behind Talleres while Godoy Cruz are eighth, two points further back.

In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Union won 2-0 at home to Patronato and San Lorenzo prevailed 2-1 at home to Defensa y Justicia.
