In quite a shocker of a price-tag tumble, Arsenal have been handed fresh impetus to go and sign one of their long-term midfielder targets this summer.
According to a report in the Sun, Lyon’s Houssem Aouar has seen his price-tag of £55million (what Arsenal were quoted last summer) slashed to just £20million – primarily down to the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Lyon are facing mounting financial pressures and Houssem Aouar will be sold for a reduced price, but Arsenal aren’t likely to be the only suitors after this latest news.
Arsenal are facing a major overhaul of their midfield, with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos, Martin Odegaard and Matteo Guendouzi all not expected to play a part in Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of the new season.
