Activision announces Warzone Rebirth Island tournament in Australia and New Zealand

Game publisher Activision has announced The Terminal List – Warzone Rebirth Island Tournament, an Australia and New Zealand-based Call of Duty: Warzone invitational.

The tournament, set to take place on July 2nd, will see Activision Publishing and Amazon Prime Video Australia & New Zealand partner for the first time to celebrate the launch of its new series, The Terminal List.

The 10-team invitational event will be produced by You Know Media and is expected to feature Call of Duty talent from across Australia and New Zealand. The tournament will feature a AUD $20,000 (~£11,380) prize pool. Moreover, subscribers to Amazon Prime Video ANZ who tune in to the live Twitch stream will be eligible to earn in-game rewards.

The event will be broadcast live on the official Call of Duty Twitch channel.

Amazon has been active in the esports and gaming scene since 2016, when it originally started as Twitch Prime. Since then the company’s gaming division rebranded to Prime Gaming and has partnered with big names in esports such as Riot Games and Respawn Entertainment.

The latest deal now sees the multinational tech company join forces with Activision through its Prime Video branch.

The Call of Duty Warzone title has been frequently used for a range of influencer tournaments, such as Fnatic’s Moonryde Invitational which was named after its streamer Dario ‘Moonryde’ Ferracci. The event featured a £30,000 prize pool and hosted 35 teams consisting of ‘top streamers’.
