Gerwyn Price says winning a third Grand Slam of Darts title has only served to make him even more ambitious.
Price lifted the Eric Bristow Trophy once again in Wolverhampton last weekend, beating Jonny Clayton, James Wade and Peter Wright along the way.
‘The Iceman’, who won his first World Championship crown at the start of the year, says he wants to win as many of the game’s biggest prizes as often as possible and is already setting his sights on the upcoming Players Championship Finals in Minehead.
The Welshman’s best performance in the Players’ Championship came two years ago when he finished runner-up but he is keen to go one better this weekend as he continues to target the big tournaments.
Price is 7/2 to win the Players’ Championship and also 7/2 to retain his World Championship crown when that gets underway on December 15.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s nice to win the Grand Slam again and be a three-time Grand Slam champ. I’d like to be a two, three, four, five-time world champ and multiple world champ.
“I want to win the Premier League, I want to win things that I haven’t won, like this weekend we have the Players Championship Finals and I’ve been to the final.
“I have got to go and win those events, that’s the sort of things that motivate me now. Getting up for events that I haven’t won and obviously trying to double up and triple up on events that I have won as well.”
Price takes on Englishman Jason Lowe in the first round at Minehead on Friday, while reigning champion Michael van Gerwen (4/1 – Players Championship outright) goes up against Kevin Doets.
