SAK’S AFTER JACK

By Robert Grieve

Fashion Sakala admits Rangers are out for revenge against Hibs tomorrow.

The Hibees knocked Gers out of the Premier Sports Cup at Hampden with a stunning 3-1 semi-final win.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side go to Easter Road for a vital Premiership clash and striker Sakala said: “In games like this, it’s all about revenge.

“What they did to us last week was very bad. We have to react and this is the time for us to react.

“I think it’s a very important game as the league is very tight. We have to keep picking up points and keep on winning.

“We are very confident and excited for the game on Wednesday.”

Sakala scored in Gers’ 3-1 victory over Livingston at the weekend.

The Zambia star has become a huge fans’ favourite and loves the catchy song supporters sing about him.

He added: “It’s a very big motivation when fans react when I am getting on the pitch. I really appreciate the support I am getting from the fans.

“I also really appreciate the song they’ve made for me. It’s a very beautiful song and a very nice one.

“I can’t get it off my mind, I am always singing it myself when I am alone!

“I always have plans on what I can bring to the team. What I have done so far looks good, but I am still hungry for more.

“I still believe I need to give more to the club and more to the squad, but I hope to continue improving like this.

“It’s always a big motivation for a striker to score too. It’s always a good feeling, especially in big important games.

“I just thank God that everything is going well. Things are exactly how I want them to be.

“I am very happy and when I score goals I feel happier.”

New Gers boss Van Bronckhorst has revealed striker Jermain Defoe is no longer part of the club’s coaching staff.

The ex-England man, 39, worked with former boss Steven Gerrard on the training pitch.

But Van Bronckhorst said: “For now, Jermain is still a player and we’ll use him only as a player. The quality he has is sometimes needed in games.”
