Egypt sealed their place in the final qualifying round of the World Cup qualifiers for Africa after playing out to a two-all draw with hosts Egypt on Friday evening.
The Pharaohs took their tally to 11 points from five games, five points clear of second placed Gabon who beat Libya 1-0 also on Friday.
With one round of games to go, Gabon, Angola, Libya let alone Angola who lie second, third and four with seven, six and four points respectively cannot catch up with the leaders.
Helder Costa and M’bala Nzola put Angola ahead only for the Pharaohs to fight back courtesy of goals from Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny and Akram Tawfik.
Egypt have joined Morocco, Senegal and Mali who have booked their places in the final qualifying round.
Elsewhere, captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half strike handed Gabon a 1-0 home win over Libya at Stade Franceville on Friday evening.
The win saw Gabon move to second place on seven points from five games in Group F displacing Libya who have six points.
The Arsenal skipper Aubameyang scored the only goal of the game in the 54th minute.
The hosts are out of the race for the final round of the qualifiers hence playing for pride.
