Chelsea stars feature heavily in Ballon d’Or nominations
The top 30 list for the 2020 Ballon d’Or has been revealed during the last week.
Unsurprisingly, Chelsea, who won the 2021 Champions League, are heavily featured on the list.
The Blues have five players on the list, including Romelu Lukaku who also won the Serie A with Inter Milan this year.
Elsewhere, Cezar Azpilicueta, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mason Mount all made the list.
Said quartet played a key role in Chelsea’s Champions League success, with Mount providing the assist for Kai Havertz’s match-winning goal.

Mason Mount on potentially winning the Ballon d’Or
Mount and Jorginho also made it all the way to the Euro 2020 final, which Jorginho of course won with Italy.
And now, Mason Mount has spoken out about being nominated for the Ballon d’Or:
“It was special. I probably found out at exactly the same time as everyone else so to see that and be alongside those names it is obviously a dream.
“I think for all the years that you work hard, dedicate and then see something like that it shows that it pays off and it’s just the start, it doesn’t stop now.”
Then, when asked about his prospects of winning the Ballon d’Or, the 22-year-old stated:
“I doubt it but you never know. The most important thing for me is that I continue trying to hit the levels I’ve hit before and go even further.”
