Harry Kane scored England’s winning goal against Denmark to keep himself in the running for the Euro 2020 Golden Boot.
To begin with, the 27-year-old looked out of sorts as he failed to find the back of the net in the group stage. However, his header against Germany in the Round of 16 has sparked his tournament into life. Together with his two goals in the quarter-finals against Ukraine and penalty against Denmark, the Tottenham Hotspur striker is now on four goals at Euro 2020.
He is now just one away from the leading scorers in the tournament, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Czech Republic’s Patrik Schick. In fact, teammate Raheem Sterling will also still fancy his chances given that he’s scored three goals so far at Euro 2020.
Both Kane and Sterling will be hoping to find the back of the net again against Italy in the final on Sunday. However, given that Italy are one of the strongest sides defensively in international football, that won’t be an easy task.
In the case of more than one player finishing on the same number of goals and assists, the Golden Boot will be rewarded to the player who manages to record the best minute-to-goal ratio.
Here’s a quick look at the current standings following the conclusion of the Group Stage:
