Aston Villa podcaster Dan Wiseman has been sharing his thoughts on recent reports linking the Midlands club with a move for former Villan Ashley Young.
This comes after Wiseman co-hosted a recent episode of The Villa Filler Podcast where he reacted to the news linking Young with a move back to Villa Park, which appeared to take a step closer this week.
During the podcast, Wiseman had this to say on the matter.
He said: “It seems to be the perfect transfer. I can’t see very many holes in this.
“There are not many transfers I’d described as a no-brainer but if you had the opportunity to make this happen, you have to go for it, I think.”
During his time at Villa, Young, who is currently at Italian champions Inter, made a total of 190 appearances for the club across all competitions in which he managed to score 37 goals and provide 59 assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).
TIF Thoughts on Dan Wiseman’s comments on a potential Villa Park return for Young…
With the latest news claiming that Young is indeed close to a move back to Villa this summer, it seems that Wiseman will be getting his wish to see the Englishman in Dean Smith’s squad for next season.
In our view, with Young having knowledge of the club and a vast experience of playing in the Premier League, he could offer some of Villa’s younger talents such as Jacob Ramsey, Carney Chukwuemeka and Jaden Philogene-Bidace some help and guidance from his position as an older player at 35 years old.
Would you be happy to see Ashley Young back at Villa?
Yes
No
Also, with the club recently saying goodbye to right-back Ahmed Elmohamady and left-back Neil Taylor, the fact that Young has played in both of these positions throughout his career suggests to us that he could cover in either role if required.
