WWE has announced the men’s and women’s 5-on-5 elimination matches that will take place at Survivor Series.
The matches will be the traditional SmackDown vs. RAW matches, with the winning teams claiming brand supremacy.
The Survivor Series pay-per-view takes place Sunday, November 21, live on Peacock in the U.S and WWE Network around the world. The event will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
For the women’s division, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Queen Zelina and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Rhea Ripley will represent RAW against Sasha Banks, Shotzi, Shayna Baszler, Natalya and Aliyah representing SmackDown.
Belair, Morgan, Carmella and Queen Zelina all moved from SmackDown to RAW in the 2021 WWE Draft, with Shayna Baszler and Natalya moving from RAW to SmackDown, with Aliyah being a newcomer on the blue brand from NXT.
On the men’s side of things, the RAW consists of Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio. The SmackDown team will consist of Sami Zayn, Drew McIntyre, King Woods, Happy Corbin and Jeff Hardy. All of the RAW team moved from SmackDown in the 2021 WWE Draft.
Survivor Series just around the corner
WWE announced the matches and teams over the weekend via Twitter and not on television. The company hasn’t really made any real attempt to promote the show on their weekly shows, so instead they kickstarted the build on Twitter with their 11.7 million followers. Of course, announcing over Twitter will certainly get more eyeballs on the announcements as they lead into another round of live television this week.
In regards to the teams, eyebrows were raised when the whole of the men’s RAW team had literally just been moved from SmackDown. How can we buy into the fact that brand supremacy is at stake when they have only been on the red brand a matter of weeks? We’ll see how WWE intends to go about it, because their needs to buy in as to why the WWE Universe should care, because at the moment, there isn’t.
