Lance Archer Update after Injury on Dynamite—Bound For Glory Recap and Review

First off, as webisjericho.com reports, the injury Lance Archer suffered after his Moonsault off the ropes which didn’t go as planned, is not as serious as it could have been, thankfully. The article in question states that fans that were present in Orlando have stated that Lance was able to walk to the back on his own.

The match that took place was fast-paced and was a very good one until the missed Moonsault occurred. The match is not only reminiscent of Steve Austin’s injury at WWE SummerSlam 1997 (the rollup especially…when Lance returned to the ring after quite a bit of time outside, it was all he seemed capable of doing. Eddie Kingston was a pro, playing to the crowd to waste time while Lance was being checked out and selling even the rollup), but it reminds me of the Brock Lesnar Shooting Star Press miss from WrestleMania 19 in his bout against Kurt Angle.

That pretty much went the same way, it would turn out, as back then, Brock was simply knocked a little silly, but that was the extent of it. Here, it seems that the same happened, and no serious injury has been reported, Lance confirming this. He’ll be taking some time off, however…it seems the injury was serious enough for that. We wish him a speedy recovery. Of the injury he stated:

“Listen. We choose to do this and take our health and lives in our hands every night. I’ve done that move hundreds of times over my career. Just under rotated. Coulda been MUCH worse. Thank you to ALL at AEW for taking AMAZING care of me and protecting me. I’ll BE BACK!”

Bound For Glory Recap and Review

It can be argued that Bound For Glory is Impact Wrestling’s version of WrestleMania, and at that event they have often delivered huge surprises and finishes that get the internet talking. The same happened this year, and the event marked Impact’s first foray into the realm of live crowds since the pandemic struck the earth.

It was an amazing feeling to see quite a few more people and hear them roar as entrances were made and finishing moves were delivered, and to hear them when championships were hoisted into the air was especially beautiful too; the wrestlers quite obviously affected too.

And speaking of championships, many of them changed hands last night. Here’s a quick recap of what went down:

Jordynne Grace defeated John Skyler, Chelsea Green, Crazzy Steve, Madison Rayne and Fallah Bahh to become the inaugural Digital Media Champion.

The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) defeated Decay (Havok & Rosemary) to become the new Knockouts Tag Team Champions in their very first appearance for Impact Wrestling, and what a debut it was.

Trey Miguel became the new X Division champion by defeating El Phantasmo of the Bullet Club and the impressive Steve Maclin in a match that will undoubtedly stand the test of time in the X Division for sure.

Going into the event, Heath didn’t know if Rhyno would have his back, but in the end, the friends were reunited and together they defeated Violent By Design’s Joe Doering and Deaner, featuring a very flabbergasted Eric Young.

The “Call Your Shot Gauntlet” was a who’s who of professional wrestling, and that’s going beyond the Impact roster—they scoured the annals of wrestling history for this one, and many made an appearance in the action, and as always with Impact, the action was delivered with a few well-placed instances of comedy.

For example, The Demon from WCW showed up, and had a hilarious in-ring moment with Johnny Swinger, he signing an autograph for the former owner and operator of Swinger’s Palace, before eliminating him. Even Sam Beale stood up for himself…

Melina made an appearance, as did Eddie Edwards and Alisha, delivering quite the double wallop to Moose via a pair of kendo sticks.

But the moments of the match go to Moose who took the whole thing, having eliminated Matt Cardona by the gauntlet’s end.

The IMPACT World Tag Team Champions, The Good Brothers defeated FinJuice and members of the Bullet Club Chris Bey and Hikuleo, thus retaining the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships.

And in a shocking turn of events, Mickie James defeated Deonna Purrazzo to become the new Knockouts Champion! This marks 4 championship reigns with that title for James. She has also held the WWE Women’s Championship a total of 5 times.

CONGRATS and RESPECT for always leveling up!
Now the true work begins to hold onto it….
ESPECIALLY, with someone like me looking to TAKE what you just GAINED!

And perhaps in the most shocking turn of events overall, it was in the main event that we saw Josh Alexander defeat Christian Cage for the IMPACT World Championship, but we kind of saw that one coming, dear readers.

The shock came at the end, when Moose essentially calls his shot and thus pins Alexander for the win and becomes the new Impact World Champion.

CHOOSE YOU BATTLES WISELY BECAUSE IF YOU FIGHT THEM ALL YOU’LL BE TO TIRED TO WIN THE REAL IMPORTANT ONE…..#ANDNEW https://t.co/O4sNyk6LTI

The show delivered on all fronts. Even Awesome Kong was inducted into the Impact Hall Of Fame, and they gave the fans what they wanted to see: a good dose of humor, action, story line development, title exchanges and what more…hope for the future year in Impact Wrestling…

And what a year it’s undoubtedly gearing up to be, dear readers.
