On the latest “Grilling JR” podcast, AEW announcer/WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross gave a medical update:
“Next week is going to be a touch and go week for me,” Ross said. “On Monday, I’m supposed to get two cancer spots cut out of my back. They said, ‘Well, it’s only a few stitches.’ Yea, but I’m getting ready to get on an airplane. They say it’s going to be bandaged. I can’t scratch it. I can’t touch them.”
Ross continued, “After that on Monday, I have to go to my oncologist. They’re making me a boot as they call it. The boot is what you slip on so that the radiation machine can have a target. I don’t know if it attaches or whatever, but it’s there to not give you any more radiation than you need and only on the spot that is affected.”
Ross talked about the tributes that AEW wrestlers paid to Eddie Guerrero in their matches at Full Gear:
“Eddie’s anniversary of his death, ironically in Minneapolis, was this past Saturday while we were all in town,” Ross said. “It was brought to my attention that he died in The Marriott, one block away from where we stayed. I know that it was made specifically that we were not to stay at The Marriott, because that would have been a bit hard for a lot of people to swallow. We stayed at another hotel, still downtown, Lowes, right across the street from The Target Center, which is beautiful because you can walk across the street to the building. We really respected that with Eddie. It’s funny that a lot of the talents today still respect Eddie like he was alive, still in the locker room, all those things. That shows a great love and respect that he earned. We made sure that Marriott was not in the picture.”
On this episode, Ross talked about Survivor Series 2001, which was the end of the Invasion storyline that featured former WCW and ECW wrestlers. You can listen to the podcast at AdFreeShows.com.
