Christian Cage defended his IMPACT World Championship against Ace Austin during tonight’s IMPACT Victory Road, but his moment was quickly ruined by Josh Alexander, who came down and demanded a shot at the belt.
In a hard-fought match between Cage and Austin, it was Christian who walked out on top after surviving a ton of attacks from Austin. Cage nearly lost after getting hit with a whirlwind kick, but he was able to get back up. Austin was furious, and then distracted the referee while Madman Fulton — who was ringside for the match — snapped Cage’s neck across the top rope in an effort to help Austin. Cage wouldn’t give up, though, and survived another splash from Austin before hitting the Killswitch for the win.
After the match, Cage celebrated his win before he was quickly interrupted by Josh Alexander, who came down to the ring and got on the microphone. Alexander said that his “Option C” would be him vacating the X-Division Championship in order to earn a shot at Christian and the IMPACT World Championship. The two then stared each other down as the show ended, setting up a potentially huge match in the future.
