Home News Beijing 2022: Nightingale looks forward to mixed snowboard cross

Team GB’s Huw Nightingale made his Winter Olympic debut in the men’s snowboard cross in Beijing on day 6 but went out in the 1/8 finals. The 20-year-old will get another chance to compete in the mixed team competition with team mate Charlotte Bankes on Saturday (12 Feb 2022).

After finishing fourth in his 1/8 final Huw said:It was not what I had planned, but sometimes it goes well and sometimes it goes not so well. I was too far off the pack, they were drafting each other and I just couldn’t get behind them.

“The course is brilliant. Compared to all the races this season, it’s the best course we’ve had so far. Probably a couple of the biggest jumps but it’s all fine.

“Hopefully for the next Games, I’ll go and I’ve already got one under my belt so I can prepare myself a lot better for the next one.
