World Men’s Junior Championships moved to Prague

The 2021 FINA World Men’s Junior (U20) Championships will be held in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague.

Originally, Buenos Aires (Argentina) was selected as the host city, but the Argentines had to give up the organization because of the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. This decision was reached jointly with FINA TWPC, the organization’s COVID-19 working group, and the Confederation of Aquatic Sports of Argentina.

FINA didn’t want to cancel the competition and started looking for a new host.

The Czech Republic, Greece, and Montenegro were in the circle of candidates, and FINA decided the move the Championships to Prague. The dates remain the same: August 28 – September 5.

The final list of the participating countries will be known in July after national federations confirm (or cancel) their participation.

The national teams of Egypt, South Africa, USA, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, Japan, Kazakhstan, Iran, China, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand were on the preliminary entries’ list in April.
