Head coaches of the Spanish national teams David Martin (men) and Miki Oca (women) announced the names of the players who will represent Spain at the Olympic Games.
Martin picked 11 of 13 players who won the silver at the 2020 European Championships. New players on the roster compared to Budapest are goalkeeper Unai Aguirre (replaced Edoardo Lorrio) and Slovak with Spanish citizenship Martin Famera (replaced Adria Delgado). Famera made its debut for Spain at major competitions at the European qualification tournament for the World League, held in Debrecen in January.
As usual, most of the players are coming from the best Spanish club Barceloneta.

The female team of Spain is the reigning European champion and won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships. Twelve players who competed at the 2020 European Championships will travel to Tokyo. Paula Crespi is missing, and she is replaced by Elena Ruiz.
