Sabadell holds off Terrassa; hard-fought victory for Mediterrani

The top three teams of the Spanish League – Barceloneta, Barcelona, and Sabadell – recorded convincing wins in the 11th round. All three teams played admirably in defense.

Barceloneta and Barcelona didn’t have hard tasks, but Sabadell faced Terrassa in the derby. Still, Sabadell dominated and recorded a 10:4 victory.

Sabadell left no chance to Terrassa in the big match of the day. Terrassa got on the scoreboard only in the 15th minute. But, Sabadell had previously scored six goals before Terrassa’s first. Therefore, after an opening 6:0 run, Sabadell’s win wasn’t in danger.

Barceloneta showed no mercy to Sabadell. Barcelona collected three points in the game against Catalunya with ease.

The most thrilling match of the round was the encounter between Mediterrani and Tenerife. The visitors from the Canary Islands had a 3:1 advantage after the first quarter. Mediterrani answered with four straight goals and jumped to a 5:3 lead. Before the final quarter, Mediterrani had a minimal 7:6 advantage. In the fourth quarter, Tenerife equalized twice (7:7 and 8:8), but Mediterrani’s Prat scored a last-gasp goal with just six seconds to go, and the hosts earned all three points (9:8)

Mataro defeated Rubi. The game was an even contest until 6:6. Nine seconds before the last break, Arizaga gave Mataro a 7:6 lead. The visitors, led by Victor Andrade, opened the fourth quarter with three goals and earned a safe 10:6 advantage.

Sant Andreu defeated bottom-placed Navarra.
