Pro Recco bye

Brescia endless its winless streak that lasted for three games (losses to Recco and Novi Beograd and a draw against Ortigia). The title-holder took revenge for a 12:13 defeat to Trieste in the 4th round. Today, Brescia dictated the pace throughout the match. The hosts scored four straight goals in the first 156 seconds of the match. That early 4:0 lead put Brescia on the right track. At halftime, the hosts were 11:5 up. They even had a 7-goal lead twice in the second half (12:5 and 14:7). The fourth quarter belonged to Trieste, but the visitors couldn’t jeopardize Brescia’s win.

Last week, Ortigia won a point against Brescia (9:9), after having a 3-goal advantage before the third period (7:4). Today’s encounter between Ortigia and Savona offered a similar storyline. The Sicilians were in front for most of the time, but they won only a point. Ortigia built a 3-goal lead in the first half (5:2). After a 1:1 third quarter, Savona dominated in the fourth period. The visitors produced a 4:0 run and gained a 7:6 advantage with 01:35 minutes remaining on the clock. But, Ortigia’s Francesco COndemi scored an equalizer for the final score (7:7) with 55 seconds to go. Therefore, the home side could be happier with this result.

After two back-to-back draws, Ortigia dropped to 5th place. Telimar, which beat Salerno convincingly, overtook the Syracuse-based side.
