It is with great enthusiasm that World ParaVolley endorses Ms. Michelle Schiffler, sitting volleyball athlete, as a candidate for the upcoming IPC Athletes’ Council elections.
Michelle has had a lengthy career in sitting volleyball, representing Team USA at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games where she won silver and gold medals respectively. From there, Michelle took a break from competition, got permanent residency in Germany where she has started a family with a member of the men’s German team, and now competes for Team Germany and is a big part of the team’s re-building process. The team is rapidly gaining the world’s attention as they gain more and more experience on the world’s stage. Michelle is also a part of the World ParaVolley Athletes’ Commission.
Michelle offers a multitude of perspectives to the IPC Athletes’ Council. Equality, Understanding and Accessibility are three of her main pillars. She also brings the perspective of the life balance – high-performance volleyball, family, career – that so many athletes with physical impairments work through in their daily lives.
We encourage all Paralympians to VOTE FOR MICHELLE!
The elections will take place from 19 August to 3 September during the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in the Proud Paralympian area in the Main Dining Hall.
