Jiangmen, China, November 26, 2021 – Defending champion Tianjin made it two wins from two in the 2021-2022 Chinese Women’s Volleyball League after they dominated Zhejiang 3-0 here on Friday.
Tianjin were fresh from a 3-1 victory on Thursday and they opened Friday’s fixture with a 8-0 lead and quickly took the first set with a stunning 25-8 win.
Zhejiang bounced back later but still failed to turn the game around, as Tianjin sealed the following two sets with 25-21 and 25-19.
Tianjin’s star spiker Li Yingying claimed a game-high 24 points, while Zhejiang’s Chen Xiyue provided 18.
Also on Friday, Chen Peiyan’s 25 points inspired Guangdong to overturn Shandong 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-21), Yunnan also saw off Hebei 3-1 (26-24, 16-25, 25-17, 25-21).
On Thursday, Tianjin overcame Shandong, while Liaoning upset Jiangsu with a straight-sets victory in the opening day of the League.
With Du Qingqing and Song Meili both performing well, Shandong started their first set smoothly but Tianjin’s overseas player Melissa Vargas then dominated the following sets to thrash Shandong’s blocking effort.
The defending champions Tianjin eventually won the game 3-1 (20-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-8). Melissa Vargas got the incredible game-high 30 points while Chinese national team spiker Li Yingying donated 20 points. Du Qingqing got Shandong’s highest 12 points.
Without key scorer Zhang Changning, last season’s runner-up Jiangsu were upset by Liaoning 3-0 (25-19,25-20,25-15).
Liaoning have four players who scored double-digit and Sun Xiaoxuan grabbed the game’s high 17 points. Jiangsu’s Gong Xiangyu donated her team’s highest 10 points.
The opener of this season saw Fujian defeat Henan 3-0, in which the score of the second set climbed to the significant high 33-31.
Other games on Thursday saw Zhejiang smash Hebei 3-0, Yunnan beat Sichuan 3-0 and Shenzhen overcome Beijing 3-1.
