Seven-time Paralympic gold medallists Iran have named Farid Saebi as their new head coach following the departure of long-time coach Hadi Rezaei, the team announced on Wednesday.
Rezaei announced his retirement from the national team after the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, where he steered Iran in claiming its ninth medal.
Saebi, who has been Rezaei’s assistant for many years, will take over as head coach when the team competes at the ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championship in Kish Island, Iran from November 9 to 14.
Maryam Iranmanesh will continue as head coach of the Iran women’s sitting volleyball national team.
