Women’s Tennis Set for Matches Against JSU and Lipscomb


KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women’s tennis will host a pair of ASUN conference matches over the weekend. The team will look to regain momentum as it faces Jacksonville State before a Senior Day matchup with Lipscomb on Sunday. 

 

Match 17: Kennesaw State (11-5) vs Jacksonville State (6-11)

Owls Season Statistics 

In singles action, the Owls have a combined record of 53-34. Sofia Pinedo (10-6) and Ji Youn Lee (9-4) lead KSU in victories. Kat Muzik follows with a record of 8-5. The No.1 doubles team of Taylor Dean/Kat Muzik has seven victories with three losses. The No. 2 doubles team of Ji Youn Lee/Valentina Taddia have a record of 8-4 thus far in the season. 

 

Scouting Jacksonville State 

Jacksonville State has dropped four out of its last five matches. JSU was last defeated by Stetson 1-6 on Apr. 3. The Gamecocks have posted a 2-6 record on the road and are currently 2-3 in conference play. 

Scouting Lipscomb 

Lipscomb is currently on a three-match losing streak. Last weekend, the Bison fell to Stetson, 1-4, before falling 2-5 to North Florida on Apr. 3. Lipscomb has posted a 2-5 record on the road and are currently 2-4 in conference play. 

 

The Series 

Friday’s match between Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State will be the 11th meeting between the two programs. KSU leads the series 7-3, last defeating JSU 4-2 during the 2021 season. 

Sunday’s match between Kennesaw State and Lipscomb will be the 13th meeting between the two teams.  Lipscomb leads the series 7-5, last defeating KSU 6-1 during the 2019 season. 

 

The Last Time Out 

KSU fell in a close match, 3-4, against No. 74 Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Owls fell to 1-4 in conference play. 

 

Next Up 

KSU will travel to Florence, Ala. on Thursday, Apr. 14 to take on North Alabama. Match time is set for 11:00 a.m. (10:00 a.m. CT) at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts.
