Shockers Host Jayhawks for a Kids Day Matchup

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State women’s tennis returns to the Coleman Tennis Complex to host the Kansas Jayhawks on March 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Coleman Tennis Complex.
 
The Shockers will be hosting a Kids Day sponsored by the Mo Connolly Tennis Foundation of Kansas. Every child in attendance will receive a free personal pizza and be allowed to participate in a post-match tennis clinic with Shocker players and coaches that will begin after the match at approximately 3:00 p.m. Children can either bring their own racket or be provided one at no cost. Attending the match is not required for the clinic and it is open to any child that has yet to graduate eighth grade.
 
Fans will be allowed to attend home matches at the Coleman Tennis Complex. Masks are required at the facility and more information about COVID-19 protocols can be found here.

Shocker Notables

  • The senior duo of Marta Bellucco and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva came in at No. 23 in the ITA Preseason Doubles Rankings. This is their fourth straight appearance in the rankings and highest appearance yet. They are currently 8-4 on the season and have a ranked win over the Sun Devil’s No. 50 Ilze Hattingh/Lauryn John-Baptiste.
  • Freshman Jessie Zheng leads the Shockers in singles wins with a 6-6 record at No. 4 and 5. Three Shockers have four wins on the season.
  • The duo of Ting-ya Hsu and Jessie Zheng have been productive at the second doubles spot, going 6-5 on the season.

  • The Jayhawks have lost their last two matches, both against Big 12 opponents in TCU (4-3) and Texas Tech (4-0.)
