Ivo Karlovic believes that tennis needs a players only association, and said so on social media today in reference to Vasek Pospisil’s on-court tirade on Wednesday in Miami. So do John Isner and Steve Johnson.
“Unfortunate what happened on court with Pospisil,” the former World No.14 wrote on Twitter. “I was not at the meeting but, from what I heard from players that were there, it’s now more obvious than ever that we need a players only association.”

We need to start supporting player unity on the ATP Tour. With the events that took place in Miami with our leadership we need more now than ever a #playersvoice time for the players to stand together!!

What happened with @VasekPospisil was unfortunate. Emotions got the best of him, and unfortunately, that happens sometimes. Fact remains that hes spent countless hours fighting on behalf of his colleagues on the ATP Tour. Better days ahead for Vasek and the players. #playersvoice https://t.co/z1Olkfp0Rz

Surely Karlovic isn’t the only player that supports the stance of Pospisil and the fledgling PTPA, but the problem is that the newly formed organizations has had trouble gaining consensus among the men, and has main few inroads into the women. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal oppose the organization, and that, of course, is a big part of the reason.
