Novak Djokovic’s Noble Gesture

On and off court, Novak Djokovic is often at his best when things are worst.

Retired Ukrainian player Sergiy Stakhovsky shared a screen shot of Djokovic’s noble gesture offering aid to Ukraine, which has been under attack by neighboring Russia since February 24th.

Stakhovsky, who returned to Ukraine to defend his homeland from Russian invaders, shared this What’s App message exchange he had with 20-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic.

The second-ranked Serbian offered financial and other support to Stakhovsky.

“Thinking of you… hope all calms down soon,” Novak wrote to Stakhovsky.

“Please let me know what would be the best address to send help. Financial help, any other help as well…”

Stahovsky captioned his post of the exchange with Novak writing “Thank you for your support. Ukraine is grateful.”

The 34-year-old Djokovic has become a polarizing presence since he was booted from Australia over his unvaccinated status yet continues to show generosity with his offer of humanitarian aid.
