On Tuesday Rafael Nadal pulled out of the National Bank Open draw in Toronto. On Wednesday he has officially pulled out of the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati.
The Spaniard, who is nursing a left foot injury, has played two matches since Roland-Garros, defeating Jack Sock at the Citi Open, before falling to Lloyd Harris in the round of 16.
Tournament update:We are wishing speedy recoveries to Rafael Nadal and Milos Raonic, both of whom have withdrawn with injuries.

For the first time since 2001 not a single member of the Big 3 – consisting of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Nadal – will compete at Canada and Cincinnati prior to the US Open. Federer is out with a knee injury and, like Nadal, not a lock to play the US Open. Djokovic is resting and recuperating after the Olympics.
