Men’s Tennis Scores Victory Over Violets

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men’s tennis team continued its unbeaten season with a 7-2 non-conference victory over NYU inside the Rec Center on Saturday.

The Lions (7-0) swept doubles play and picked up their fourth win on the Rec Center courts this spring.

Nick Matkiwsky and Nikola Kilibarda’s 8-2 victory over Rumaish Khastgir and Andy Watterson at No. 2 doubles kick-started the afternoon for TCNJ. Matthew Michibata and Justin Wain followed with an 8-4 win against Alex Yang and Ryan Shayani at No. 1, shortly before Derek Jordan and Jacob Quijano matched that score line opposite Ilan Leventhal and Joseph He at No. 3.

Kilibarda dispatched Watterson, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Wain clinched another non-conference win for the Lions with a 6-4, 6-3 defeat of Yang on the number one court.

NYU won tight matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, where Adrian Tsui lost a first-set breaker and a third-set super breaker in suffering his first loss of the spring.

Jordan rolled past Henry Hochfelder, 8-2, at No. 6 singles and Matkiwsky finished the night by outlasting Max O’Malley, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 on the No. 5 court.
