The Magnolia Panthers and Lady Panthers squared off against Warren and Hampton in tennis action last Thursday.
Against the Lumberjacks, Landry Carter defeated David Brawler 8-0 and David Burgess blanked Braylon Watson 6-0 in singles play. In doubles, Jacob Lewis and Riley McCook blanked Brawler/Watson 8-0.
In the match against Hampton, Carter fell 5-7 and McCook was defeated 1-6 in singles. In doubles, Lewis/McCook lost 4-8.
In junior varsity action, Aryan Simmons won a pair of singles matches(6-0, 7-5), while Brodie Goodwin lost 4-6. Judah Ray and Isaac Ray won one doubles match (6-0), but lost another by a score of 0-8.
In girls’ action, Lady Panther Lillian Willis defeated Warren’s Kaley Henry 8-4 and teammate Jessica Del Angel got past Anna Arrow 6-1.
In doubles, I’Shanna Ellis Ja’Miya Wright were winners 8-1, while S. Clayton and Yulianna Sanchez won 6-2. Choloe Broomfield and Sophia Sanchez lost their doubles match by a score of 4-6.
Against Hampton, Willis lost 2-6 and Jessica Del Angel was defeated 2-6, while Alicia Del Angel won a junior varsity match by a score of 6-1. In doubles, losing were Ellis/Wright (2-8), Clayton/Y. Sanchez (0-6) Broomfield/S. Sanchez (0-6).
