CLARKSBURG — The Elkins High School boys and girls tennis teams defeated Robert C. Byrd Saturday in Big 10 Conference play.
The EHS boys claimed a 6-1 win, sweeping all four matches in singles action.
No. 1 Austin Elliott defeated Simon Boehke, 8-4; No. 2 Aaron Elliott defeated Jacob Brannon, 8-6; No. 3 Austin Harris defeated Grayson Nash, 8-2; and No. 4 Caleb McVicker defeated Peyton Smith, 8-6.
Austin and Aaron Elliott claimed an 8-5 win over Boehke-Brannon in No. 1 doubles and Harris-McVicker defeated Caden Haskell-Smith, 8-1, in No. 2 doubles.
Ben Mollahan-Adam Fubio received a forfeit win in No. 3 doubles for the Flying Eagles.
The Lady Tigers took a 7-0 win.
Earning victories in singles were No. 1 Macy Reckart over Amanda Gamble, 8-0; No. 2 Natalie Sutton over Annalise Gentilozzi, 9-7; No. 3 Miriam Fath over McKenna Lucas, 8-2; and No. 4 Macie Romero over Hanna Fowler, 8-0.
In No. 1 doubles, Reckart-Romero defeated Gamble-Gentilizzo, 8-2; No. 2 Sutton-Fath defeated Lucas-Erika Thomas, 8-5; and No. 3 Madaline Walls-Sophia Putnam defeated Sophia Dolan-Maddie Ford, 8-3.
Elkins is scheduled to host Trinity Christian at noon today and then compete in the Big 10 Conference championships Thursday and Friday at Robert C. Byrd.
