Cameron Norrie Defeats Jason Kubler At Roland Garros | ATP Tour

Cameron Norrie wasted no time getting down to business on Wednesday at Roland Garros, reaching the third round with a convincing 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 win over Australian qualifier Jason Kubler.

The No. 10 seed remained dominant on serve by winning 73 per cent of his service points, but also applied pressure in his return games and broke Kubler six times. Norrie fired 36 winners en route to advancing in two hours and 29 minutes.

Last week’s champion in Lyon (d. Molcan) has remained reliable throughout the season, winning at least two matches in nine of 13 tour-level events so far this year. The win moves the Brit into the third round of a Grand Slam for the fifth time, but is still seeking his maiden appearance in the second week of a major.

Standing between him and that milestone is No. 21 seed Karen Khachanov, who battled past Bolivian Hugo Dellien 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(1), 6-3. Norrie leads their ATP Head2Head series 3-2 and won both of their clay-court meetings last year in Lyon and Barcelona.
