Swimming and Diving Competes on Day One of National Invitational Championships

The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team competed on the opening day at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships on Thursday at the Beacon Health Aquatics Center in Elkhart, IN. The Blue Devils have scored 19.5 points to rank 22nd in the team standings following Day 1.

Junior Jeannette King and freshman Cassidy Stotler each swam a pair of individual events and the Blue Devils were in a relay on the opening night.

The NIC continues on Friday with the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 800 freestyle relay. Prelims start at 9:30 and finals start at 6 p.m. A live stream of the meet can be found on Vimeo.

TOP PERFORMANCES (Day 1)

  • 200 Free Relay – Junior Jeannette King and freshmen Morgan O’Hara, and Cassidy Stotler and Kelly Stotler opened the finals with a time of 1:35.27. The time was 28th among 40 relays.
  • 50 Breast – Cassidy Stotler swam in the B-Final and turned in a time of 29.02 to score 5.5 points. She posted a 28.95 in the morning prelims.
  • 50 Back – King earned a spot in the A-Final after turning in a time of 25.36 in the prelims. She swam 25.46 in the final and placed ninth to earn 14 points.
  • 200 IM – Cassidy Stotler swam a time of 2:06.06 in the prelims.
  • 50 Free – King swam 23.32 in the prelims, narrowly missing a spot in the finals.
