The team race on the women’s side has really heated up at the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships, with Kenyon exiting the second night of competition up by just two and a half points on Denison after winning the 400 medley relay. Emory remains within striking distance, 33 points back.

The Eagles had a strong prelim performance, putting one swimmer apiece into the ‘A’ and ‘B’ final of all three events during the session. Kenyon also put one swimmer into each championship final, while Denison trails after only putting up two.

If we score out the prelim points, Emory puts up 66, while Kenyon scores 49 and Denison trails with 25. That would keep Kenyon comfortably ahead with 297 points, while Emory (281) would overtake Denison (270.5) for second, not factoring in the 800 free relay which will be a timed final tonight.

The Emory men have distanced themselves from the field, finishing up Thursday’s finals with a 72-point advantage on second place Dension.

Emory’s lead doesn’t appear to be at risk today after the Eagles put six men into scoring position during prelims, including a pair of ‘A’ final appearances in the 100 breast.

Johns Hopkins led all teams with three ‘A’ final swims on the day, as they’ll look to move up into second after finishing Day 2 trailing Denison by just one point. The Big Red went 2/4, however, which projects to score 42 points compared to the Blue Jays’ projected score of 49.
