Softball Falls to Norfolk State Sunday

Central Connecticut State softball dropped its final game of the weekend to Norfolk State. The Blue Devils rallied in the sixth inning to take their first lead, but the Spartans were able to put two on board in the seventh to take the game.

KEY MOMENTS

  • The Spartans roped together two lead off singles and got runners in scoring position early in the first inning. Norfolk State drove two runs in on a wild pitch and sac-fly.
  • After back-to-back three up, three down innings, the Blue Devil offense was able to get things clicking in the bottom of the third inning. Brooke Fedison got things started with a double to left field, was advanced on a sac-fly and brought home by Jazmin Lasane.
  • The Blue Devils got two runners on early in the fourth, but the Spartans turned a double play to get out of the jam.
  • After a three up, three down inning from Kaylee Whittaker, the Blue Devils offense took control of the sixth inning. Paige Stringer hit a lead off single that turned into a score from a Kim Howard single. Alex Rodgers hit another single that put CCSU up 3-2, the Blue Devils’ first lead of the game.
  • The Blue Devils got the first two outs in the seventh and were set to take their first win of the season, but the Spartans roped together three straight singles and took a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh, taking the game.
