The Central Connecticut softball team fell in a pair of contests to open play at the NC State Invitational on Friday in Raleigh, NC. The Blue Devils fell to the host Wolfpack and Delaware.

KEY MOMENTS, GAME 1
- NC State got a three-run homerun from Logan Morris in the first inning for all the support they would need.
- CCSU’s best chance came in the fourth when senior Bri Walker and junior Kim Howard knocked back-to-back one out singles. After a pinch runner came on, Sam Gress would get out of the jam with a pop up and strikeout. Gress pitched 5.0 innings for the Wolfpack and allowed just three hits and one walk.
- An eight-run inning, highlighted by a three-run double by Morris and a grand slam by Carson Shaner would end the game after the top of the fifth.
KEY MOMENTS, GAME 2
- The pitchers were locked in a duel through the first three innings, with the only blemish a run by the Blue Hens in the first. Delaware would push across four runs in the top of the fourth inning to build a 5-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the inning, CCSU got a run back after sophomore Paige Stringer singled and then scored on a double by Howard.
- Delaware came back and batted around in the fifth and plated 12 runs to break the game open. The Blue Devils would manage to connect on back-to-back singles to open the inning and score a run on a wild pitch and another on a sac fly by junior Meg Gorman but the game would end on a strikeout.
