Robinson (Texas) Little League Earns Inaugural Girls with Game Team Sportsmanship Award

Following the final day of Pool Play at the 2021 Little League Softball® World Series, Little League® International proudly named Robinson Little League, the Texas State Champion, as the inaugural recipient of the Girls with Game Team Sportsmanship Award.

“On behalf of everyone at Little League International and the entire Little League Softball World Series Tournament Committee, we are honored to present Robinson Little League with this award,” said Demiko Ervin, Little League Softball World Series Tournament Director and Director of the Urban Initiative. “From their on-field performance to their commitment and support of the Little League program off the field, the players and coaches of Robinson Little League have displayed what it means to be Girls with Game in the Little League program and have become role models for future generations to come.”

Presented for the first time during the 2021 Little League Softball World Series, the Girls with Game Team Sportsmanship Award recognizes a team that shows what it means to be “Girls with Game” both on and off the field. The Little League Girls with Game Initiative, originally launched in 2019, is dedicated to honoring all the girls and women who have made the Little League program what it is today and those who inspire the future generation of female participants at every level.

Prior to the conclusion of the Pool Play phase of the LLSWS, members of the Little League International Staff, LLSWS Tournament Committee, participating managers, volunteers, and media were given the chance to vote on which team they believed should be recognized for this award. In addition, through its partnership with Athletes Unlimited, Little League International was able to have Athletes Unlimited Softball players contribute to the voting to ultimately determine this year’s recipient.

Robinson Little League finished the Pool Play phase of the Little League Softball World Series with a 3-1 record in the Jennie Finch Pool, earning the No. 3 seed in the quarterfinals.
