Colin G. Golder of New Providence, NJ passed away suddenly on June 19, 2022, at the age of 74, while participating in the Newport to Bermuda race for the 11th time.
Colin was born in Carshalton, United Kingdom, the only child of Hilda and Stephen Golder. He had resided internationally before moving to New Providence where he has resided since 1992.
Colin had earned a masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Essex’s University and had a lengthy and successful career in the telecommunication industry before retiring as Vice President at Lucent Technologies in Murray Hill, NJ in 2006.
Colin had a passion for sailing and was a member of the Board of Governors at Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy, a member of the Storm Trysail Club, and a member of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. He also enjoyed global traveling, skiing, cooking, and gardening. Colin was also an avid piggy bank collector, with many piggy banks from around the world.
Colin’s greatest love was for his family. He is the beloved husband of Sabina (nee Coyle) of New Providence and the late Frances (nee Bull); loving father of Sarah Wang and her husband Steve of La Crescenta, CA and Catherine Baines and her husband John of Port Charlotte, FL; and cherished grandfather of Sophia and Samantha; and extended family Krista Melvin (nee Baines) of Pittston, PA, Regina J. Coyle and Regina T. Coyle of Little Ferry, NJ and family in the United Kingdom.
