Wales and Scarlets scrum-half Gareth Davies has married his fiancée Katy Griffiths in a gorgeous ceremony in Pembrokeshire.
Plenty of Davies’ Wales and regional rugby team-mates were on hand to watch the happy couple, who got engaged just before Christmas last year, get hitched at Gellifawr Woodland Retreat on Saturday.
More than 150 guests, including Jonathan Davies, Leigh Halfpenny, Wyn Jones, Liam Williams and Ryan Elias, were on hand to help the new Mr and Mrs Davies celebrate their special day.
Beautiful bride Katy, a sports therapist, wore a stunning gown from Bridal Boutique Narbeth with gorgeous lace detail and a flowing veil, while Davies and his groomsmen looked smart in their finery.
The newlyweds were the first to marry in the wedding venue’s new ceremony room, Seren Yn Codi, with the beautiful scene complimented by Flowers by Annabel.
The couple’s beloved dogs – Chihuahua Winnie and bulldog Pete – were, of course, present to celebrate their owners’ nuptials.
As you’d expect, many of Davies’ international and regional team-mates were on hand to help with the celebrations, with a group photo showing the cohort in the venue’s outdoor tipi-covered space.
Lions tourist Davies popped the question to Katy in December in a stunning clifftop proposal overlooking St Brides Bay in Pembrokeshire on a birthday walk. Their dogs were there for that special milestone, too.
Nestled among trees just above Newport in Pembrokeshire, Gellifawr’s wedding venue is set in 15 acres of landscaped gardens, ponds and woodland, and boasts a purpose-built cedar-clad outdoor bar, outdoor ceremony spaces, indoor bars and a reception room, 300 sq ft tipi space and bridal salon.
Gareth and Katy said: “It was the best day of our lives with all our family and friends around us.
“Simon, Emily and all the staff at Gellifawr were truly amazing in helping us organise the whole thing and we couldn’t be more grateful for that!
“The new ceremony space Seren Yn Codi was beautiful and the whole day ran so smoothly, having everything in one place and the outside space complete with outdoor bar and magnificent TiPi were the ideal place to party the night away!”
Venue director Emily Jolly added: “It was a very emotional day to see Katy and Gareth marry in our beautiful new space.
“Our very special team have endured a lot throughout the pandemic and I can honestly say I am proud of each and every one of them for making this happen.
“Both myself and [managing director] Simon [John] would also like to just thank IJ Griffiths builders for pulling out all the stops to build such a magnificent building and Kevin and Anne Davies of Cawdor Cars for helping make it all possible. Diolch.”
