Munster have confirmed that Damian de Allende and RG Snyman have been cleared to travel to South Africa and will continue their respective recoveries under the care of the Springboks medical team.
De Allende and Snyman have been regularly seeing a specialist over the past couple of weeks after they suffered burns in a fire-pit accident earlier this month.
It was stated that De Allende, Snyman, Mike Haley and CJ Stander required treatment for superficial burns following the incident. It was later revealed that De Allende and Snyman sustained ‘more substantial burns to legs, hands and face’.
The World Cup-winning pair were named in Jacques Nienaber’s Springbok squad for the upcoming B&I Lions series and were expected to link up with the squad on completion of their provincial programmes.
On Wednesday, Munster released a statement in which the Irish club confirmed that both De Allende and Snyman will be allowed to travel to South Africa and link up with the Springboks’ training camp in Bloemfontein this week.
“Both players had good reviews with the specialist this week having sustained burns in an accident earlier this month,” a statement from Munster read.
“De Allende and Snyman will both travel back to South Africa this week.”
The Springboks are currently in the third week of their training camp, which has been expanded by the arrival of domestic-based players after the completion of the Rainbow Cup. Jacques Nienaber’s team will face Georgia in the first of two Test matches next Friday.
