FORMER Glasgow lock Hamish Bain has become the latest Scot to be recruited by Jersey Reds. The ambitious English Championship club, who announced earlier this week that they had signed Sam Grahamslaw from Edinburgh, already have his fellow-props Adam Nicol and Steven Longwell on their books.

Bain, 24, who was released by the Warriors recently, turned out for Boroughmuir Bears in the Super6 Sprint Series. A former Scotland Under-20 cap, he joined Glasgow in the summer of 2020 from Stade Nicois shortly after Danny Wilson took over as head coach.

Meanwhile, Scottish Rugby have declined to comment on a report that Todd Blackadder is set to succeed Wilson, who was sacked last week. Blackadder, the 50-year-old former All Blacks captain, played for Edinburgh from 2001 to 2004 and was subsequently an assistant coach with the capital club. He is currently working in Japan as head coach of the Toshiba Brave Lupus.
