After an intense one hour heads up battle that saw the chip lead switch multiple times, Ukraine’s Andrii Derzhypilskyi outlasted Brazil’s Luciano Santos de Hollanda to claim his first ever WSOP title and gold bracelet. Derzhypilskyi became Ukraine’s ninth bracelet winner and first of this series. Down the rung was Natural8 player Karolis “Internecik” Sereika who placed 7th, and just missing a third final table was bracelet winner Joao Vieira in 8th place. Another seven figure prize pool at the series with the WSOP #19: $840 6-Handed Bounty No Limit Hold’em seeing a turnout of 2,053 entries (1,360 uniques, 693 re-entries) for US$ 1,642,000. After a five hour final day hunt, Ukraine’s Andrii Derzhypilskyi shipped it on his third bullet to earn his first ever WSOP gold and US$ 66,950. In addition, Derzhypilskyi pocketed a heftier US$ 87,732 in bounty rewards for a combined payout of US$ 154,322. This was Derzhypilskyi largest recorded cashout beating his previous high score of US$ 83,254 earned at last year’s series where he placed 5th at the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed.

Day 1 reached the limit of 32 levels with 21 players remaining. Among the top 150 in the money were Lucio “WizardOfAz” Lima (64th), Kacper Pyzara (76th), Martijn “visacard” Gerrits (88th), Jinho Hong (101st), Tomas “CoronaMyAss” Jozonis (102nd), Guoliang “SPARK1207” Wei (105th), Paul “Rahchan” Hong (108th), Daniel Negreanu (111st), Muhammad “foldnutsjam1” Siddiqui (112th), and Gab Yong “GabD” Kim (149th).
The final day opened with Brazil’s Luciano Santos de Hollanda up top and Thailand’s “hitorrun” on the opposite end. “Hitorrun” came out firing, landing three double ups to quickly become one of the leaders, however still met the rail in 16th place with Derzhypilskyi raking it in. Bracelet holder Joao Vieira fared better, he was second to the bottom and lifted his stack all the way to 8th place, just missing the final table by one spot. Vieira also busted to Derzhypilskyi with pocket Queens over pocket Threes. Vieira’s fall meant every player at the finals was gunning for their first ever WSOP title. Also denied were the last of the Asian players: Hong Kong’s “Austin22” (9th), Vietnam’s “Ragna2” (10th), and Japan’s “Laplace_RED” (11th).
The final table opened with Derzhypilskyi and Portugal’s Silvio Domingues “valterzao” Costa both sitting with over 110 BB stacks. Costa earned his massive pile by knocking out five players which included a double elimination to bracelet winners Huahuan “F7588” Feng 
in 15th place and Nick Maimone 
in 14th place with 
full house on a board 
. Three Brazilians made the cut, Eder Rodrigues “BlueMoon” Campana, Kelvin Brunetto Kerber, and Luciano Santos de Hollanda who was ranked 6th with 8 BB. To complete the list, Natural8 player Karolis “Internecik” Sereika was ranked 6th and Ivan “Im4bet” Ciursin was shortest with just 5 BB.

Early action was dominated by Costa who first padded up Ciursin then followed it up with two busts, Sereika in 7th place with

that missed and Kerber in 6th place with

. After Hollanda climbed out of the danger zone on a double up through Derzhypilskyi, Costa outkicked Ciursin with 
trips over

. This gave Costa a huge lead of 165 BB with average at 80 BB.
At four left, Costa slowed down while Hollanda went on a spree claiming three big pots that included all of Campana’s chips. Hollanda had that held against Campana’s 
overcards. At three remaining, the spotlight shifted to Derzhypilskyi who claimed multiple pots off Hollanda and Costa. Derzhypilskyi took the lead when he raised with 
straight on a board 
, Costa tank-called with 
two pair. From there, Costa’s stack swung wildly and met his end in 3rd place with brick falling to Derzhypilskyi’s .
Heads up opened with Derzhypilskyi ahead 79.5 BB to Hollanda’s 48.8 BB. With stacks still quite deep, it took one hour of heavy action for Derzhypilskyi to close it out. On the second hand, Hollanda claimed a big pot to switch them up. From there, both players tugged at the chip lead. Derzhypilskyi won five consecutive hands to rise to a 2:1 advantage, but Hollanda chopped it down then took command briefly with pocket Fives winning over Ace high. Unfazed, Derzhypilskyi grinded to reclaim the lead and built a 79 BB to 6 BB advantage, however, Hollanda scored two double ups to trim the gap to 2:1.
Once again, Derzhypilskyi answered with pots of his own to climb to a 6:1 advantage but Hollanda would not be removed as he doubled up three more times to retake the lead. On one of the hands (pictured below) his improved to two pair to overtake 
top pair.
Back to the grind, Derzhypilskyi clawed his way to the top again, winning multiple pots with barely a showdown. Just minutes past the one hour mark of heads up battle, Derzhypilskyi finally closed it out. The last hand was Hollanda 
, Derzhypilskyi , the board 
for a victorious two pair. Derzhypilskyi captured the dream gold bracelet and a career high score of US$ 154,322. For runner up Hollanda it was also a career high US$ 88,465 payout.

The MAIN EVENT is underway with 17 qualifying heats leading up to the final day on September 5. Last year, this event generated a massive 5,802 entries for a record breaking US$ 27,559,000 online tournament prize pool. This year’s edition will see the buy in remain at US$ 5,000 with a US$ 20,000,000 guarantee in tow. Only three Day 1 buy ins maximum permitted per player and same day re-entry is not allowed.
Another phased event running is the COLOSSUS with 16 qualifying heats leading up to the final day on August 29. Buy in is US$ 400. Last year this event amassed 12,757 entries for a US$ 4.7 Million prize pool.
