Year after year, the COLOSSUS No Limit Hold’em produces one of the largest festival fields and this year, it was no different. Over two starting days, 9,399 turned up in hopes of winning the gold for just US$ 400. Out of the 817 players that earned a piece of the US$ 3,101,670 prize pool, Asia’s best results were Korea’s Inkyu Choi in 17th place, Taiwan bracelet winner Carlos Chang in 18th place, and India’s Abhishek Goindi in 47th place. Claiming the gold was Russia’s Anatolii Zyrin for his second career bracelet and a sizable US$ 314,705 payout. Prior to this victory, Zyrin earned his first gold at the 2019 $1,500 Omaha Mix event. To date, he has US$ 776K in WSOP earnings and 18 total cashes.

Recapping his victory, the only other decorated player at the final table besides Zyrin was bracelet winner Vincas Tamasauskas who was rivered out in 8th place. At six handed, Zyrin began his ascent, railing Eric Kim (6th) followed by David Ripley (5th), then entered heads up in the lead after cleaning out Kevin Rand in 3rd place. It was a hard-fought match for the gold with Michael Lee first overturning the deficit to build a 2:1 advantage but ultimately couldn’t close it out. Zyrin shipped it to become the first player from Russia to win in this series.

Earlier in the series, Brian Yoon reached the final table of Event #18: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball (Limit), finishing 5th for his deepest run under a non Hold’em variant… that is, until two days ago when he won Event #57: $10,000 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship for his fourth career bracelet. Yoon triumphed over a heavily decorated field of 80 entries that included recent winner Shaun Deeb who cashed out in 13th place. Along with the gold, Yoon collected US$ 240,341 to boost his WSOP career earnings to US$ 3.4 Million.

Taking a look at his prior achievements, Yoon’s past three bracelet wins were all at No Limit Hold’em events – 2013 $1,111 Little One for One Drop, 2014 $5,000 No Limit Hold’em 8-Handed, and a huge one at the 2017 $1,500 NL Hold’em MONSTER STACK event where he banked a career high US$ 1,094,349. To capture his newest bling, Yoon went head to head against Danny Wong who was in pursuit of his first bracelet. Out of Wong’s 74 WSOP career cashes, this was his closest bracelet reach. Other players going deep were 1x bracelet winner Joao Vieira who was on his third final table appearance and 2x bracelet winner Brandon Shack-Harris who was on his second.

The $1,000 SUPER SENIORS NL Hold’em drew plenty of attention with poker legend/ 10x bracelet winner Doyle Brunson among the large turnout of 1,893 entries. Unfortunately for the fans, his appearance was brief, busting out on Day 1. Despite his departure, the event provided plenty of excitement especially at the final table where every player was seeking their first bracelet. In the end, France’s Jean-Luc Adam delivered a knockout performance, eliminating five players to capture the dream gold bracelet and a career high payout of US$ 255,623. While this was his first bracelet, Adam boasts two WSOP circuit rings won in 2016 and in 2019. He became the second player from France to bring home the gold in this series.
